Emilia Clarke Enlists for Amazon’s Crime Drama “Criminal”

Renowned for her famous portrayal of Daenerys Targaryen in “Game of Thrones,” Emilia Clarke has been cast as the lead in the forthcoming Amazon Prime Video drama series, “Criminal.” Known for their work on “Westworld,” Ed Brubaker and Sean Phillips’s graphic novel series gets adapted for television.

In “Criminal,” Clarke will play Mallory, a bright and brazen armed robber renowned for her fast reflexes with both a gun and her intellect. She develops a passionate, Bonnie-and-Clyde-like romance with a robbery squad headed by Ricky Lawless, played by Gus Halper. Living on the brink and carrying secrets that seriously endanger Mallory and her crew, Mallory’s character is nuanced.

Charlie Hunnam, Richard Jenkins, John Hawkes, Adria Arjona, Logan Browning, Kadeem Hardison, Pat Healy, Taylor Sele, Aliyah Camacho, Michael Mando, Marvin Jones III, Michael Xavier, and Dominic Burgess make up an outstanding ensemble cast for the series as well. Ed Brubaker will co-show run the series with Jordan Harper to guarantee an interesting story.

Recent assignments for Clarke have broadened her formidable resume. She starred in “Secret Invasion,” Marvel’s “Solo: A Star Wars Story,” and “Terminator: Genisys.” Disney’s Clarke also debuted on West End stage in Anya Reiss’s rendition of Anton Chekhov’s “The Seagull,” so highlighting her acting flexibility.

Clarke’s declaration coincides with her still being a popular person in popular culture. The prequel to “Game of Thrones,” “House of the Dragon,” lately ran an episode with a major dragon battle that sparked renewed interest in Clarke’s Daenerys Targaryen portrayal. A huge hit, “Game of Thrones” has its prequel set 200 years before the main series, which still enthrals viewers.

Combining great action with profound character development, “Criminal” seems to be a fascinating addition to Clarke’s career. Fans of the graphic novel and Clarke’s past work are much looking forward the show’s Amazon Prime Video release date.
