In the Season 4 trailer, two social and political factions of Americans appear to be on the point of conflict. The strongest superhero, Homelander (Antony Starr), who resembles GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump with superpowers, stands by and smiles as pandemonium unfolds.
In Season 3, Billy Butcher (Karl Urban), the former Boys leader, begs his squad for forgiveness for using an illicit substance that gave him supe-like strength. Butcher allowed Hughie Campbell (Jack Quaid), one of the Boys’ most vulnerable members, to become addicted to the narcotic.
Homelander tells his Seven celebrity supes, “This country is corrupt beyond repair, so we got to save it. It will be hard; we must do horrible things for the greater good. Your fame will end. You’ll be angry gods. Show me some rage.”
The clip showed that Jeffrey Dean Morgan, who plays Negan, will be a key vigilante ally in Season 4. Season 4 will also include portions of “Gen V,” which revealed a secret lab where a supe-killing virus was developed. Butcher knows about this virus and could attack Homelander.
Eric Kripke revealed that Season 5 will be the last season of “The Boys” in Season 4. “I don’t totally know how we’re going to get there, but I know the destination,” he told The Hollywood Reporter after the news.
