Crazy Frog triumphantly returns in Netflix’s “Axel F” promo.

Nearly twenty years after first going global, Crazy Frog is back, this time in a new commercial for Netflix’s action-comedy film, “Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F.” Friday’s promo from the streaming behemoth featured the animated character, well-known for their dance remix of the franchise’s theme song, which set off chaos alongside Eddie Murphy’s Axel Foley.

The video was shared on Netflix’s official X (previously Twitter) account under the energetic caption, “CRAZY FROG AND AXEL FOLEY?!?” The post attracted notice right away, with T-Mobile tweeting “The GOAT of ringtones,” to which Netflix jokingly responded, “Invented ringtones.” This lighthearted conversation emphasizes Crazy Frog’s ongoing influence on popular culture, which began with Erik Wernquist’s 2003 creation and first marketing via ringtone supplier Jamba!

Toping the charts in the U.K., Australia, France, and many other nations in 2005, the character’s rendition of “Axel F”—the theme song first written by Harold Faltermeyer for the 1984 film “Beverly Hills Cop—” Known for its animated amphibian spewing gibberish over a dance beat, Murphy Brown and Captain Hollywood’s revamped dance version was published two years prior.

Key parts from the newest movie are highlighted in the new promo, with Crazy Frog digitally inserted to provide an additional degree of anarchy and comedy. A promo description on the Crazy Frog YouTube page states, “Axel F and @crazyfrog have been an iconic team since 2005. Back with a fresh music video for the Netflix Film Beverly Hills Cop is Crazy Frog.”

The fourth entry in the cherished series, “Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F,” is under direction by Mark Molloy. Eddie Murphy, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Taylour Paige, and Kevin Bacon among others star-studded the ensemble. Axel Foley (Murphy) returns to Beverly Hills to guard his daughter, Jane ( Paige), and his old friend Billy Rosewood ( Judge Reinhold).

Molloy underlined in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter the relevance of the music of the franchise for its tone and character. “For me, the music of the Beverly Hills Cop franchise has so much of the identification and the tone of the films,” Molloy said. “It’s quite important. Axel F has all of those needle drops and the score; this is all very important.

The comeback of Crazy Frog not only delivers a nostalgic touch but also gives the cherished series a modern spin, therefore offering fans a wonderful mix of old and fresh ideas. Viewers of “Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F” on Netflix may savor the resurrected antics of Crazy Frog with the venerable exploits of Axel Foley.
